We’re seeking switched-on graduates and postgraduates interested in object-oriented design and enterprise application development to join the company’s development team.

Description

Initially, your role will involve learning professional C# programming skills; then you will work on small stand-alone projects to put those skills into practice, and possibly implementations of the company’s software at client universities – including plenty of hands-on programming to achieve integration with existing systems. With gained experience, you will start to develop core product functionality, with particular focus on programming interfaces to worldwide bibliographic database systems using a Windows/SQL Server/C#/ REST/SOAP stack. Through mentoring by senior members of the development team and in response to your own aptitudes and strengths, this role will present you with plenty of opportunities for early responsibility. With exposure to a wide range of technologies, and opportunities for growth into areas such as application architecture, research and development, and client relationship and team management, this job represents an exciting and rewarding beginning to a career in professional programming.

Desired Skills and Experience

Your academic results should be excellent, including the expectation of a good degree in a technical subject, such as Maths, Physics or Computer Science. Your communication skills and written English must be very good, and you should consider yourself a keen analytical problem solver who is eager to share your ideas with others. You have experience of and are excited by object-oriented computer programming, and respond well to the responsibility of being directly answerable to clients. You show care to spot problems before they appear, and have the initiative and enthusiasm to push for a solution.
