Recent customisation projects:
New tools for Content Management System
In 2007, a major website rebranding exercise at Imperial College meant implementing new designs and creating new functionality for the Faculty of Medicine website.
The site is built around the Symplectic Content Management System, and our consultants created a range of new tools to help the Faculty make the most of the new page designs.
The customised tools created during this project included:
- a new 'drag and drop' page layout builder
- a simple interface to create and edit a 'carousel' of images and links
- new tools within News and Events to feed into a range of new display options
Publications customised for RAE 2008 data collection
Imperial College used Symplectic Publications Management as the primary system for collecting data for the RAE 2008 process.
Symplectic helped make this easier by:
- providing a new interface for academics to nominate papers
- adapting the data structure to the precise requirements of the RAE process
- putting in a new verification process, used by Library staff to check the data
- creating new feeds from the Publications system to the College's RAE systems
These modifications helped make the process of putting together Imperial College's RAE submission much more straightforward for individual academics, and made administrating the process easier for the College's Research Management staff.
