Our upcoming 7.3 release builds on recent enhancements to deliver deeper insight, smoother workflows, and greater control across key areas of Symplectic Elements.

Join us to be among the first to explore what’s coming in Symplectic Elements v7.3.

Item Evaluation module

In this release, we’re expanding the Item Evaluation module to support more scalable and insight-driven review processes. New functionality will introduce richer reporting and on-screen insights, alongside bulk assignment and dispatch of reviews to help teams manage activity at scale. Unit-level configuration options will provide greater local control, while highlighted score functionality and improved visibility of history events will make outcomes and decisions easier to interpret and track over time.

AI-assisted data entry

Following the introduction of AI-assisted data entry in v7.2, this release focuses on refinement and control. Improvements to matching algorithms will further reduce the likelihood of duplicate items being created, while new monitoring of remaining AI usage quota will help institutions better understand and manage their usage.

Awards Management

v7.3 introduces a series of targeted improvements designed to simplify and extend proposal workflows. These include changes to reduce the number of steps required in the proposal approval process, expanded group type restriction options for Managing Groups, the introduction of new funding types, and the availability of additional Awards Management content within the Elements reporting database.

Other improvements

Additional platform enhancements planned for v7.3 include:

  • Expanding the scope criteria of assessment exercises to include publication status, and introducing publication status as a filter on the item selection page
  • Enabling users to generate PDFs of assessment exercises from more touchpoints, making it easier to capture and distribute content without leaving their current workflow
  • Repurposing the preferred record functionality as an item-level property that overrides default data source precedence and propagates consistently across Elements
  • Navigation sidebar updates, informed by community feedback, to optimise the overall navigational experience
