The Discovery Module makes researcher profiles easy

Our Discovery Module allows institutions to effortlessly showcase their researchers’ expertise through a modern, easy-to-maintain search and discovery interface.

The Discovery Module repurposes the rich and often unique data already collected within Elements to populate fully-rounded profiles including biographical information as well as publications, grants and professional & teaching activities. Our state of the art synchronisation mechanism ensures profiles remain up to date while our suite of privacy settings ensure you can control which data will be made public.

The Discovery Module offers contemporary design optimised for both desktop and mobile use which can be branded to align with organisational branding guidelines. Importantly, it is easy to implement, meaning you can avoid time-consuming and potentially costly custom builds and instead focus your efforts on working with researchers to enrich their profiles.

Maximise the reach of your research

The Discovery Module aims to make your researchers and their expertise as discoverable as possible. It offers a range of advanced search functionality such as faceted search to help visitors to the site find researchers with relevant expertise or who are interested in being contacted about certain kinds of opportunities such as supervision or media requests. We’ve also worked to maximise SEO, ensuring your research profiles are as Google-able as possible.

To help your research go even further, the Discovery Module can provide visitors with direct links to open access copies of your publications. We support a number of different OA integrations, even allowing visitors to download PDFs directly from your institutional repository.

Use Elements to power your own profiles

Using our powerful API and rich data sources, Elements can be used to automatically populate your public research profiles, institutional websites or open source profile solutions such as VIVO.

The automatic search features are a bonus. I really like the way the new entries arrive automatically, and all I have to do is respond to the prompt to approve them. Navigation in the new release is intuitive and friendly. Linking directly to DOIs and full text is convenient and makes it easy to access and share my own research.

Tim Cain, The Ohio Innovation Exchange (OIEx)

The University measures the individual research activity of academic staff. This Measure of Research Activity (MoRA) requires the collection of publication data from faculty. Symplectic Elements supports this beautifully.

Floris van der Leest, Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia

[Elements] will help to bring transparency to the richness of thought showcased within non-traditional publications, providing a more holistic representation of faculties’ scholarly work.
